Project AWARE LogoProject AWARE Shoreline Cleanup Day

Rescheduled for October 4th, 2008 Due to Flooding
Starting at 9 am
Blanchette Landing - St. Charles

Held in conjunction with a Project AWARE Seminar - October 3rd

Volunteer to help make clean waters a reality and join the biggest underwater cleanup of its kind. Project AWARE is calling all divers, snorkelers and water enthusiast to make their data count and help reverse debris trends this September.

September 20th is International Cleanup Day and to celebrate we are hosting a shoreline cleanup along the Missouri River here in St. Charles. Sponsored by Project AWARE and the City of St. Charles, this event gives every member of the family an opportunity to come out and make a difference for the environment.

Volunteers are needed to help pick up trash and debris from along the shoreline. Trash and non-recyclable items will be hauled away by the City of St. Charles while all recyclable material will be recycled by the City of St. Peters.

We will be meeting at the south parking lot of Jean Baptist Point DuSable Park which is also called Blanchette Landing at 9 am. Volunteers are asked to bring trash bags and if they are residents of St. Peters a supply of blue recycling bags as well. Be sure to dress appropriately including boots or heavy shoes, long pants and gloves.

TGADC will be providing a BBQ lunch for all participants and donations to Project AWARE can be made at the event as well.

And just to make it a little more fun, prizes will be awarded for:

  • The most debris and trash collected - by weight

  • The most unusual object collected

  • The biggest object collected

RSVPs are greatly appreciated and will help us ensure we have plenty of lunch and supplies on hand for everyone. Please RSVP to any of our stores or email us here.

Be sure to check back as we will have more information posted prior to the event. In the event of rain, Sunday, September 21st, 2008 will be used as a alternate date.
